The Knights of Columbus ministry "Coats for Kids" is a national program devoted to providing warm winter clothing to deserving children. To date; nationally, the Knights have donated half a million coats in N. America and Canada. To that end, St. Pius X Council 11101 Knights of Columbus has recently delivered 168 winter coats to a local charitable organization, BackPackBeginnings, whose mission is to feed, comfort and clothe children in need. They are a volunteer effort providing comfort without charge to needy children in Greensboro and outlying communities. The funds to purchase the coats came from Brother Knights and the generosity of St. Pius X parishioners. BackPackBeginnings has interacted with SPX through our parish Director of Community Life, Carolyn Painley who co-ordinated this endeavor as well as at Cone and Irving Park Elem., Elm St. Head Start & Hope Academy. Thanks to all who have given so freely of their time and treasure to create a more caring community life.

Wednesday, Dan Allen delivered the coats to the social worker up in Caswell county schools that had requested 12 coats (six girls and six boys aged 5-8). The social worker's name is: Brandi Teetor, LCSW School Social Worker, Caswell County Schools And the other person pictured is Kandi Butts, Data Manager.
